School House, Afar, Ethiopia

Dear Sir,

Thank you for the courses. I am still working for my competitive exam and have no time to write. It will be easier in one month. By the way, I have forgotten to tell you that I've set up an association two years ago and that my field is education.

For the moment, I am funding courses of English in Ethiopia (10 pupils, and last year 5) and I am also building a school in order to teach the national language as well as French and English (80% of the Afar population is analphabet). The children there are really poor.

Please find enclosed pictures of the school (work in progress). The structure must be flexible because of the eathquakes which are very important in this area (Rift Valley).

The name of my association is AFED (afed51@hotmail.fr) and my blog: http://afed.blogspot.com.

Afar are an ethnic group who reside principally in the Danakil Desert in the Afar Region of Ethiopia and in Eritrea and Djibouti. They are sometimes called Danakil, a name used specifically to refer to northern Afars, while southern Afars can be called 'Adel' (also transliterated as Adal), similar to the former Adal Sultanate.

Regards,

Yann
